AT HOME WITH... CECILE ROEDERER
Our apartment
It has been 12 years since I’m here and I love this place especially for its light and our district that is full of food shops, restaurants, bookstores… The neighborhood is full of life.
I love also having the elements from the past: our handles, flooring, moldings. I can also see the sky , it’s really rare in Paris!
If I could magically change something…
I would add several square meters and a space that would be only for me.
My interior decoration
I like mixing pure lines, geometric shapes and more far-fetched things such as a panther carpet or a patterned wallpaper. This “accidental” side of decoration pleases me a lot!
I prefer 1950s and 60s for their style and when contemporary designers try to create something remodeled on these years. That’s why I love India Mahdavi for instance.
I need neutral tones, my interior shouldn’t have too much saturated colours or objects.
I wanted my bedroom to become a cocoon. So I opted for green and blue colors that soothe me and make me think of all the trips that I would like to do one day…
In the matter of decoration, we choose everything together with my husband. And we agree almost every time!
I often fall for…
Ceramics and tableware, either in a Nordic or Japanese style. And if in addition it has pastel colours: I can’t resist it.
On the walls
There are many black and white pictures that either are a gift, or were bought during our trips.
And I would like to have also some in colours like those of Marie Bovo at Kamel Mennour’s or of Todd Hido.
My home fragrances
Astier de Villate Aoyama
Docteur Vranjes Ambra
Byredo’s Bohemia
On a bookshelf
There are especially contemporary novels, photo and decoration books found at OFR, Taschen or in my favourite bookstore Comme un Roman (rue de Bretagne).
I am very attached to…
My wooden birds on the chimney. When I look at them, they remind me of my son – when he was younger, he used to play a lot with them.
Or a coral element that looks like a heart that I brought back from our romantic travel to the Maldives.
My favourite moment
Saturday morning. It’s the beginning of the weekend, we take all together a breakfast in the living room and I have finally time to read books and play with my son!
