Motherhood

I am a “snail” mom, that always nests! I have always neede to create a cocoon, a bubble.

I protect my children from many things, I spoil them a lot. But in the same time I encourage them to become independent and responsible.

I want them to stay carefree while preparing for a real life and its responsibilities.

I have at the same time a lot of rigor towards myself so I obviously behave in the same way with my family, but as my daughters say, I’m “flex”: I do not check their bags, their calendars, their homeworks…

I make my daughters responsible in a very small age and it’s going to be the same thing with my last one. I want my children to quickly understand what their responsibilities are.

Another thing that is crucial to me, is the notion of exchange, attention, giving. They are used to think of others since they are very small. For example for Christmas, we have a lot of gifts from our children! I’m from Slavic culture where the notion of sharing is really important.

My role

In my opinion parents should encourage the taste for general culture, curiosity and openness. Art, travels, theater, music… It’s much more rewarding and meaningful than putting a tablet in their hands.

An advice that I give them

“Believe in youself, stay yourself”

I have always been telling them: “I love you, nothing is impossible”

Those sentences are obvious, but I think that by repeating them it can help them in their adult lives!

What I have managed to pass down

Passion. My two daugthers are passionate about things. They always go until the end and never get bored. One of them has left home to start cinema and design studies in Canada and the other one has started is in high school.

My last daughter is similar, she has a lot of curiosity.

At home we laugh and cry a lot, Slavic origins oblige!

Family holidays dreams

We go to the Basque Country where we have our family every second summer.

No-kids break allowed

I’m not a fan of leaving my children alone when they are small. But sometimes spending some time only with my husband makes me feel so good…

Next family trip

Going all together to New York

Our little pleasures

“Home cinema” evening on Saturday nights all together or sitting around the fireplace. We laugh, we talk, we’re family that exchanges and shares a lot.
