AT HOME WITH... CHRISTOPHE VEROT, FOUNDER OF ROBINSON LES BAINS
MY FLAT
Before leaving for New York I owned my flat in the 11th district. When I return my tastes had changed. My current district (10th), its ferment and its view, reminds me of New York.
I have taken strong bias during the 8 months of construction. I don’t need big spaces so I tried to restructure and create cocoons – little adjustable spaces inside of bigger ones – and warm. That’s why there is a lot of wood at my place.
MY QUARTER
I’m always riding my bike so living in the center is perfect for me. Moreover, I am near everything: The Gare de Lyon (perfect to go to Auvergne for weekends) and my office in the Marais.
It’s a central district, very cosmopolitan, and there are lot of restaurants.
WITH A MAGIC STICK
I’d love to have a high-techer kitchen with lot of tools and robots.
My lover is a naturopath so food and cooking is one of our passion.
WHAT I LIKE IN DECORATION
I particularly appreciate staging, creating different moods starting from a clear and pure envelope; and I love to change regularly.
ARCHITECTURE
What I like more than decoration is architecture. My parents initiated me. I am fan of Jean Prouvé or Charlotte Perriand. I use to dreamt of designing tailored furniture.
For this flat it’s Yann Le Coadic who advices me, he gave me the idea of the two boxes in the living room. This super architect address is to find below.
ROOM WHERE I SPEND THE MOST OF MY TIME
I wake up early and return late after work. I am finally not so much at my place.
But I cook and we host a lot for dinners, so I spend a lot of time in my kitchen. We have our « Wilde » years, when we organised big parties with hundred peoples. Today it’s softer!
But the most amazing with this place is that you feel outside even if you aren’t, thanks to the view…
MY FAVORITE MOMENT
On mornings or evenings when I can read a book in my bed.
ARTIST AT HOME
I’ll spontaneously go for a draw or a painting. I need to know the artist to grow attached to a work of art. I think about the illustrator Iris Hatzfeld, about Donatien Viesmann a friend photographer or about Elaine Sturtevant who inspires the « appropriations » movement.
ON MY BEDSIDE TABLE
Some books, historic novels and a picture of my sister and I.
IN MY BOOKCASE
There are a lot of books, about art, photograph, essay, decoration, or fashion. I find them in a library in the Marais (find the address below) and lot of them came from NYC.
In my next house there will be an entire room dedicated to my books!
HOME FRAGRANCE
I am very sensitive about smells. I use sprays bought in pharmacy to cleanse the air, Astier de Villate candles and an oil lamp in the bedroom.
NEXT PURCHASES
A memory foam matress
A Ruckstuhl carpet
And let’s be mad : a painting of Bernard Buffet.
WHAT I PREFER AT MY PLACE
The view !
And my cigar box design by Hermès.
A DECO FOCUS
Astier de Villatte white ceramics or the Jonathan Adler ones : I cannot resist!
MY WEEK-ENDS
Saturday morning I chill in bed, take time to read a book. After sport I go to the office. I am alone there so I take the benefit to do things I haven’t the time to do during the week. I go to the cinema and we have dinners with friends at home, or in a restaurant.
On sundays I go to the museum or the cinema with my lover. I also like to take the time to stay at home, with the view and a good book.
MY RITUALS
Once a year a magnetizer come to purifie the air from bad vibes and sort things to keep or not.
I regurlarly use sage to cleanse, balance energies, and hunt the « entities »… A real program!
