AT HOME WITH... LISA MEHYDENE, FOUNDER OF EDIT58
MY CITY
I love everything about London: the people, the culture… Here you can eat any cuisine, visit interesting places, escape to a park, immerse yourself in the city.
It has the best of everything. It’s my home and where my children will grow up. It’s full of memories.
MY HOUSE
We have lived in the property since June 2014. Wandsworth is a lovely area: it offers us all the things that are important to us as a family.
We are surrounded by parks: Wimbledon, Richmond, Battersea, Wandsworth.
This place feels like countryside but coupled with the familiarity, convenience and culture of city life.
We were immediately drawn to the house because it is covered in Wisteria which I love. I knew I wanted to buy the house before I even went through the front door for the viewing!
I work from home, raise my family here and host friends – so it really is important to me that it looks and feels good, as I spend so much time here.
WHITH A MAGIC WAND
A live-in cleaner/house keeper, and a gardener!
MY FAVOURITE ROOM
Our master bedroom: I love the two huge windows that throw in so much light. I also always dreamt of a working fire in the bedroom, which we have (we rarely light it in winter, but it’s nice to know we can if we want to!).
ARTISTS AT HOME
The majority of our art consists of flea market or brocante. Made by unknown artists. I’m always drawn to a good oil painting, particularly portraits.
I do love the work of John Derian, particularly his decoupage.
It’s become a bit of a tradition that my husband will buy me a new piece for the collection on each special occasion.
ON MY BOOKCASE
A mix of my latest book, weekend newspaper supplements and my phone.
A DREAMED PURCHASE
One day I will own a Norman Cherner “Walnut” armchair and a Howe London curved hound sofa.
MY FAVOURITE ITEMS
My Pinch London sofa: it has been with us for years, travelled to every country with us.
Our Apothecary cabinet: sourced from via an antique dealer
The framed Japanese block print: my husband gave me on our wedding day.
OUR WEEKENDS
Weekends are family time.
Friday nights are normally spent at home – crashing on the sofa with my husband and catching up on chat and TV. Saturday nights we usually host friends. My husband is a keen cook, so he enjoys preparing a meal and trying out new recipes.
Weekend days always involve a trip to a London Park, shopping at a London market, going to a museum or gallery.
On a Sunday we like to consume the Sunday papers and ultimately we end up in another London park!
INSPIRATION
Le meilleur endroit pour une dose d’inspiration et pour admirer leurs incroyables rayons.
