IN THE CLOSET OF... LISA MEHYDENE, FOUNDER OF EDIT 58
MY STYLE
It can basically be summed up as denim and stripes! I’m always in some kind of Breton top with a pair of jeans and loafers. I don’t have to be in an office, so I can afford to dress in a more casual style that suits my lifestyle.
MY DAILY OUTLINE
In winter I choose the simple way: jeans with a jumper or a sweatshirt.
In summer I do like to wear dresses, I become a little more adventurous, I dare colours.
MY EVENINGS OUTLINE
I just add a little heel, some make up, a clutch and maybe a blazer of some kind.
It’s just my day time look ramped up a bit!
KEEPING EVERYTHING OR REFRESHING
I make a few significant designer purchases at the start of each season. I then top up with high street as the season goes on. I love fashion and the high street allows me to indulge in trends without breaking the bank or feeling guilty.
But equally there are lots of pieces in my wardrobe that are over 10 years old. I also got to a point where I realised I was indulging too much in ‘fast fashion’
MY FAVORITE DESIGNERS
Ace & Jig: for Summer
Self Portrait: for proper special occasion dresses
MY SHOPPING
Since having Children I shop mostly online from:
JEWELLERY
I don’t wear any jewellery, with the exception of my wedding and engagement rings which I never remove. I just don’t like to feel overdressed, and jewellery always makes me feel that way.
MY SHOES
I obviously love baskets, as they add an informal feel and you can chuck everything in. I love summer as I’m really partial to a good tan or gold sandal.
I buy my shoes from J Crew, Zara and Chloe.
MY INSPIRATION
Magazines do continue to inspire me and I love to flick through the pages. But increasingly Instagram is where I seem to find ongoing inspiration.
NEXT PURCHASE
A Pippa Holt Kaftan for summer.
Everything from A Piece Apart, all the floaty dresses are calling me!
A TABOO
No taboo really. I’ve just learnt never to leave the house in something I feel uncomfortable or ‘not me’ in.
